Cromford Mill

The Arkwright Society - Testimonial

Paul Thorneycroft of Listed Property Management (LPM) worked for the Arkwright Society as part of the specialist conservation team at Cromford Mills throughout 2014.
The mill complex at Cromford is Grade I Listed and forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Paul was involved in the first phase of delivery of the £50 million Masterplan for the site. This first phase involved the regeneration of the building known as B17, (which was at that time on the Historic England, Heritage At Risk Register) which is now open and operates as a Visitor Gateway Centre to the World Heritage Site on the ground floor with creative industries workspaces on the 4 upper floors. The overall capital works contract for this building exceeded £4 million. Paul was extensively involved with repair work to the historic fabric of the building and the execution of the decontamination and encapsulation programme which proved to be extremely challenging, requiring cutting edge methodology and management in order to succeed.Throughout the project Paul provided the very highest standards of work and professionalism by;

  • Building trust by developing a contractor : client relationship based on honesty and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills. Understanding our requirement and priorities and being able to articulate these through contractors to achieve our partnered goals.
  • Management of time, resources and particularly personnel to propagate the best possible outcomes
  • Careful logistical management with minimum impact on our day to day activities and those of our tenants
  • Never failing to understand and overcome the challenges and complexities presented on this particularly difficult project.I would thoroughly recommend Paul Thorneycroft for other work on historic and listed buildings.
